(This media advisory caught the attention of two Pittsburgh television stations who came out to film some footage for the 11:00 news later that night.)

Pittsburgh Sports League to Crown City's 1st Kickball Champions

(Kickball, it's not just for kids anymore)

WHAT:    Pittsburgh's Inaugural Adult Kickball Championship Game
WHERE: Sullivan Field, Lawrenceville (3500 Block of Penn Avenue)
WHEN: Wednesday, November 13, 8:00PM
WHY:
Kickball is no longer just a kid's sport. The Pittsburgh Sports League (PSL) has offered Pittsburgh's first organized kickball league and it has been a huge success. Over 100 people have been playing competitive kickball every Wednesday this fall, fighting for the honor to be crowned Pittsburgh's 1 st City Kickball Champions.
WHO:

The PSL are men and women ranging in age from 20 to 40 who play flag football, basketball, volleyball, deck hockey, soccer, tennis, softball, bowling, and kickball. The PSL is competitive and social. Some people play to win, others to get exercise. Everyone plays to have fun. The PSL offers sports year-round in 4 different seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall. Most sports are co-ed. The PSL will also be offering certain sports with multiple skill levels for competitive and social leagues.

The PSL began two years ago with a single flag football league and 150 people. Since then 2200 Pittsburghers have gotten off their couches and onto athletic fields to play on 224 teams in 26 different leagues. This winter the PSL will be offering bowling, basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, walleyball, and inner tube water polo. The winter season begins in January. Sign-ups begin November 11.

The PSL is a program of the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP), a not-for-profit organization that advances issues affecting young and young-thinking people in Pittsburgh, making the region a more dynamic, engaging and diverse place in which to live.
